    Formatting with hidden columns

    Hi All,
I have 5 columns d,e,f,g,h at any time only 2 are selected and the other 3 are hidden, I am trying to test if the cells on the same row are not = then change cells colour. Having problems getting my head around how to do it!
Have tried conditional formatting and recording a macro, yet I only seem to keep getting back to the same problems with the hidden columns. Can someone please give me some help or point me in the right direction.
    Cheers

Exactly which of the five Cells are to be checked for Equal?

Depends on which columns are hidden!? Need more information.
I expect the student to do their homework and find all the errrors I leeve in.

    Hi Sam,
    Columns D E F G H
    t t f t j
    a b c d a
Sorry for the poor example however if I hide columns E F H then the values in the next row visible would be t t which are the same the next row down a d would be visible only. Therefor if D2 <> G2 have a colour and a different colour if they are not.
However if D E G were hidden for example the results for that range change.
    Cheers
