    Matching multiple values from different column

    Hi,

    I have to find a way how to compare two columns in excel. One column has bunch of text among which I have to check if particular word from the other column appears.
    What should be the formula for that? Thank you in advance for your help

    Table would look something like this:
    Column1 Column2 Result
    How should I compare it? it
    and check if the have
    words I'm looking
    looking for are disposal
    in the column I have
    at disposal

    welcome to the forum.

    assuming your table starts at row 1 (ie, no header row); insert below formula in C1
    PHP Code:
    =IF(COUNTIF($A$1:$A$500,"*"&B1&"*")>0,"Yes","No"
    or, European Format
    PHP Code:
    =IF(COUNTIF($A$1:$A$500;"*"&B1&"*")>0;"Yes";"No"
    and copy it down to desired row.

    1) Posting Code

    (or paste your code, select it, click # button)

    2) Uploading File(s)
    Go Advanced / Attachments - Manage Attachments / Add Files / Select Files / Select the file(s) (multiple files can be selected while holding Ctrl key) / Upload Files / Done
    Replace company specific / sensitive / confidential data. Include so many rows and sheets etc in the uploaded workbook to enable the helpers visualize the data and table structure. Helpers do not need the entire workbook.

    3) Testing the Codes
    always back up your files before testing the codes.

    4) Marking the Thread as Solved
