HOW TO CALCULATE SUM BETWEEN TWO GIVEN DATES

I have a column in which all the cells are in date format like this: 4/29/2017. in next column i have numbers
how can i have the sum of the numbers between two specific dates that i say. for example the sum between 4/29/2017 and 3/21/2017
sometimes there's no number for 4/29/2017 or 3/21/2017 but i still need the sum between them. how can i do that?. I'll appreciate your help
