    cell for read only

    Hi, i used =SUBTOTAL(3, H4:H65536) in my Inv worksheet. Now i want to put the value which obtained from SUBTOTAL to be read only meaning it can't be edited in cell B9 in Input worksheet. How do i do this ? Thanks

    Hi DarReNz,
    One way is to...
    Unlock all the cells on the sheet.
    By right-clicking the box left of column A (above cell 1)
    select format cells, Protection tab.
    Untick the Locked checkbox.
    then
    right-click cell B9 (or whatever cell you want to be read only),
    Format Cells, Protection tab,
    and tick the Locked checkbox.
    Now protect sheet. Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet

    Cell B9 (or whatever cell or cells you chose) is now protected
    and you won't be able to change it's contents
    without un-protecting the worksheet.
    All other cells are not protected, so these cells you
    can overwrite the contents.
