System Error while opening an Excel file

    Hi Everybody

I'm getting system error while opening an excel file it displays like this,
"System Error &H80070057(-2147024809) This parameter is incorrect". when I ask for help it is displaying
    The specified system error occurred

Visual Basic encountered an error that was generated by the system or an external component.

How can I solve this problem.

    Thanks and regards

    Hi Ram117 ,

What version of Excel are you using?.
If it's 97, have a look at this Microsoft KB:

    Ram 117,

    I'm special.

And whenever I have a special problem I talk to my psychologist (and of course my local clairvoyant).

But when I have a special computing problem here's what I do...

I type the message that appears on the screen (or copy and paste it) into my search engine and then put quotation marks around it, before I hit the search button.

More often than not, I get a result.

And when I don't, I usually just give up

Or join a forum and demand some answers asap!!!

(Actually I usually delete some of the message in the quotation marks and then add some words to refine the search - eg. Excel (and/or) 97).

Hope that helps you in the future RAM man

    Ooooh, I like that name.

    See ya later alligator.

PS: G'day OBP, you are still the man when it comes to VBA!
