You must check "Use Wildcards" - but then you can use "?" (without the caret) for any single character and "*" for any number of characters.

this somehow doesnt work i used <Amend>"*"<Members> in find dialog box and checked wildcards but it doesnt find anything
and text is like this:
<Amend>Amendment<Members>

For others that read this later ...
When "Use wildcards" is checked, certain characters have special meanings - in this case "<" and ">" and to look for the character itself rather than have it specially interpreted, it needs 'escaping', thus ...
\<Amend\>*\<Members\>
