Copy Charts and Ranges from Excel to Word

This macro loops through specified sheets and copy charts or text from the sheets in Excel and pastes them to bookmarks in Word. 


You have several charts and/or ranges in Excel that you regularly need to paste into Word for a report. This macro does it for you automatically.

How to use:

  1. Open Excel.
  2. Alt + F11 to open the VBE.
  3. Insert | Module.
  4. Paste the code there.
  5. Tools | References
  6. Make sure there is a reference to Microsoft Word Object Library.
  7. Close the VBE (Alt + Q or press the X in the top-right corner).

Test the code:

  1. Download the attachment for a working example.
  2. In Excel create a worksheet named Summary.
  3. In Column A put the sheet named for the charts.
  4. In Column B put the sheet named for the range (this sheet can have any data in cells and it will be copied).
  5. In Column C put Word bookmark names for the corresponding sheet data from Column A.
  6. In Column C put Word bookmark names for the corresponding sheet data from Column B.
  7. You can list as many sheets as you want in these columns.
  8. Save the Excel file.
  9. Open Word.
  10. Add bookmarks to the file where you want the data/charts pasted (Insert | Bookmark).
  11. Close and Save the Word file.
  12. Make sure that the Word and Excel file are in the same path (i.e. in the same folder).
  13. In Excel Tools| Macro | Macros.
  14. Select ExportToWord and press Run.
