please find below a list of information that you will need

YOU WILL NEED...

First, what code do you have, or do you expect someone to write the whole thing for thing for you.

also, what is in your table? is it your clients, your hourly rates. Please be specific, you will need multiple tables: Clients, Products, Rates, BookingTable,

Access comes with a "time and billing" database template. I would start with that, as it probably comes out of the box, so to speak, with 80% of your work done for you :)

firstly i would like to say that i dont want someone to write the whole thing for me

it was a general thread for people to let me know their ideas and possible problems which i may encounter

i have never used access before to setup a new database

i have a friend who is helping me but again he isnt that clued up on access fully

i have tried the billing database within access and its not really what i want also looked at the service call management one again not what i am looking for

i beleive it would be better to start from scratch and get it to do everything i want the way i want it

any comments would be appreciated

thanks

I ran across these examples in my access directory and thought they might be useful. They are downloads from microsoft.

I understand your problems as I started with no clue and have taught myself with the invaluable assistance of people in forums such as this.

Obviously you should start with a book to get the basic concepts of tables, relationships, forms, qeuries etc

The way I attacked it from there was just begin by creating a blank database and see how you go. think very carefully about each small step and then when something doesnt work, ask doctor google. Reword your question a couple of times to get different results and read on other peoples problems and the offered resolutions to these problems. I often found the information I needed to learn how to do a specific thing this way. This is also a great way to find all the different available forums for help in these situations.

I now have an extensive list of text files called "how to ..." that I still reference often.

Your next step is to ask a question on a forum. When you ask a question you concentrate on the one imediate task that you are trying to perform. you should be very specific in what you are trying to achieve, how you are trying to achieve it and always include what you have so far, including table structures, relationships and code that you have written that isnt working.

This is such a vast topic that you need to concentrate on the small details one at a time.

I hope this has been some help. stick with it and you will find it rewarding.
